Life begins when pain ends
Brought up in a medical family –my father was prof of anaesthesia in
Cairo University- I pursue an academic anaesthetic career & got my
English Fellowship in 1980 (FFARS)& later MD from Cairo University.
In National Cancer Institute I worked in the first pain clinic in Egypt &
Africa from 1983 till 2008.This was the basis of my growing interest in
relieving cancer pain & later chronic pain .
My contact with pain hospices in UK – & later through regional,
Europeans, American pain conferences- taught me interventional pain
medicine from members of World Institute of Pain(WIP) .I have been
the first certified Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) in Egypt
Arabic Countries & Africa as early as 2003 & became an examiner for
WIP from 2006.
Studying, teaching, managing pain relief became my main interest for
the last 20 years . Pain diploma provided by Cairo university ameliorated
further my capacity as pain clinician with initiation of Objective
Structural Clinical Exam (OSCE) regularly in pain from 2006 till present .
Regional& international obligations were a continuous process for
education (see CV).
Council Board Member of Egyptian Society for the Management of Pain (ESMP), 2007-2014 Egyptian Chapter of IASP (International Association for the Study of Pain)
